Coding and Documentation Accuracy (CDA) Education Services

THN’s Quality Coding and Documentation Accuracy (CDA) team partners with physicians and practices to support accurate, complete, and compliant clinical documentation and coding. We offer a variety of education and support options designed to meet providers where they are and fit into busy workflows.

CDA Academy (Virtual)

The CDA Academy offers basic and advanced CDA Academy sessions, along with shorter, high-impact deep dive sessions. These sessions provide clinical insight into documentation and coding, along with practical guidance to support accuracy, compliance, and completeness.

CDA RAPID Education

Formerly known as RAPID RAF. This bi-weekly education series is designed to make coding easier, faster, and more accurate—just 5 minutes per module.

CDA Deep Dives

CDA deep dive sessions are designed to take a closer look at specific conditions and the common coding and documentation opportunities that are frequently seen. Each session will consist of 1 or 2 topics to discuss and will provide, documentation tips specific to that condition, common codes associated to that condition, examples related to that condition and a couple questions.

Prospective Review

CDA coding educators offer prospective review support to help providers identify documentation and coding opportunities before the patient visit.

How it works:

  • Your coding educator reviews your upcoming schedule to identify THN members with open documentation and coding opportunities.
  • Suspect diagnoses are shared with you prior to the patient encounter.
  • This proactive approach supports accurate documentation, appropriate coding, and improved recognition of chronic conditions—ultimately supporting patient care.

One-on-One Education

THN medical directors and CDA coding educators are available for individualized, one-on-one discussions with point-of-care providers. These sessions are tailored to your specific questions and documentation needs.

Medical Record Review Process

THN is contractually obligated to conduct medical record reviews on behalf of our payer partners. We approach this process as both a compliance requirement and an educational opportunity. Through medical record review, we capture appropriate coding and documentation opportunities and use findings to inform ongoing education for providers and practice staff.

Medical records are accessed in a read-only format with all required compliance safeguards in place. Access is limited to authorized team members, and all work is routinely audited. Medical records may also be submitted via secure fax when needed.
