Triad HealthCare Network represents a new model of healthcare delivery based on a strategy to better align physicians, hospitals and payers in order to provide better access to care, better clinical quality, and control costs.  In July 2012, THN was selected to participate in the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP) through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as an Accountable Care Organization (ACO).  As of January 1, 2016, THN was selected to participate in the Next Generation ACO (NGACO). This new model builds on experience from the Pioneer ACO Model and the Medicare Shared Savings Program. Through the new model, CMS will partner with THN and other ACOs that are experienced in coordinating care for populations of patients and whose provider groups are ready to assume higher levels of financial risk and reward. This program will provide quality care in a cost efficient manner with a patient-focused approach. THN shares the following information regarding its participation as a NGACO:

How Shared Savings Are Distributed

Any earned shared savings will first be allocated to cover 100% of infrastructure costs.

Twenty-five percent (25%) of any available margin after infrastructure costs are covered (up to $2M per year) will be paid to Cone Health as a repayment of Cone’s initial investment in the startup of Triad HealthCare Network.  Such allocation will be paid to Cone until its initial investment is recovered.

Seventy-five percent (75%) of any available margin after infrastructure costs are covered will be distributed to ACO Participants (Primary Care Physicians, Specialists and Cone Health) based on performance measures determined by Triad HealthCare Network.
