Forming a clinically integrated network (CIN) is the first great step for physicians to deal with the future changes in the healthcare field. A CIN serves as a bridge between our current “fee for service” world and the upcoming “bundled payment” system where accountable care organizations (ACO) are expected to rule. Leadership is the key to this process.
A core group of physicians met in 2010 to discuss developing a network to serve the community and promote cost efficient, high quality healthcare. Triad HealthCare Network (THN), a physician-led collaboration, is an inclusive model encompassing Cone Health’s employed physicians as well as the broader provider community. Currently, more than half of affiliated physicians in the network are in private practice. All physicians agree to set aside the specific interests of their own organizations and specialties and to work together to provide coordinated, patient-centered care. In addition, the network has partnered with THN Care Management (formerly MedLink) to provide results-oriented care management.
The network supports better integration and clinical coordination, the importance of improving measurable healthcare outcomes and the adoption of evidence-based best practices and cutting-edge technology that can reduce variability in the care we deliver. The network believes in providing the right care at the right time in the right setting.
